Chester likes to scare me by hiding behind the filter. Chance gets so excited when I walk up to feed him he'll swim in circles for about 10 minutes, doesnt even know when I put the food in. Champ always tries to eat Chesters food but doesnt realize that he can't get past the seperator, lol. Charm just got moved to his own 10 Gallon and is currently darting back and forth from one side to another, but always scares me when he darts up and down stopping very suddenly only before crashing into the gravel. And Chuck likes to disco, constantly darting horizontally.

Mine would grab snails, bang them against the glass, and then suck them from their shells =)

Hi all I'm new here. I just got a betta this weekend, his name's Attila (longish story on that one...)
Attila often "stares" at me when I'm watching him. And today after a water change, he spazzed around the tank for hours on and off - he barely did that when he first moved in! The up/down, side-to-side thing I've seen all breeds of fish do... but for hours, I swear! I'm hoping he's not seeing his reflection in the glass...! He was also doing that in circles. He'd swim along the edge of the tank in a verticle oval pattern again and again... He's fine now tho.

When I feed Aquila bloodworms, I always put them on this one particular white plate (I also use to soak his pellets on them until realizing that he couldn't eat them soaked). Well, whenever he sees the white plate he knows that he's going to be fed soon. When I place the plate infront of his tank he starts wildly flapling his little fins and staring at the plate all excited; but usually at that time I'm either soaking the bloodworms or melting them so he gets a bit of a wait. During the waiting period he'll go down to where the plate is set and then swim up to the surface and look there in expectation and then he'll swim down again and then back up until I feed him (constantly giving me the hint to feed him now . It's so cute (yet I guess cruel in a way).

Forgive me for bringing this old thread up.. but I was gona post something like this anyways. I think it's kinda naet to hear about what peoples fish do.. and now that I have 3 fish you can raelly see more of their personalities. So.. here goes! Sarge my Pin tail: I'm not sure what it is, maybe he's getting blind or just lazy, but he can never actualy catch the food off the tip off my finger. He just knocks it off. he's not very coordinated! Actualy i wont go to in depth about this little fella as I allready have "bragged" about him enough Ermac (Mac) my crowntail: In the store he kept trying to jump out of his cup. Scared my girlfriend actually.. haha. He was very skiddish and afraid of any movement whe i put him in his tank, and stayed near his big java fern most of the time. He doesnt like blood worms either.. though he ate two or so and then pretty much sad sod off lol.. I often catch him crusiing the sand bed floor. He doesn't like to eat off the bottom, unlike sarge who eats wherever the food is. in moss, on sand, on a rock. wherever. Another thing he does is he chooses a pain of the hexagon glass and starts swimming in up and down circles really fast. it's like he's dancing. he always chooses one piece of the glass. it's ooks cool when he swims like that beacuse all this spikey parts of his finnage flow around He's really good at eating food off my finger. unlike sarge, who jumps at it at an angle (hurrah for refraction) and misses, this guy angles himself so he's directly under my food/finger and has rarely missed the food! and he's pretty quick about it. i cant get over his accuracy. he use to be a messy eater, ripping everything apart.. not anymore though! Finaly, epyon my double tail: This is by far my most gentle fish. It took days and days, amost a week for him to feel comfortable tos wim around the tank. I thikn he's shy of the other fellas with their big fins and what not, and he's definetly atleast a month younger then the crowntail is. he's much smaller bodied. Sometimse he swims around like a little arrow head. I think he'd get his bum kicked by either of the 2 but they would haev to catch him first that's for sure:D he does more hanging out then swimming around that's for sure. But when he swims he swims. When it comes to eating, he eats his blood worms like a good fishy. Thank god! He gets the whole can to himself. When he eats food off my finger, he rarely misses. Funny thing about this guy is that he is so gentle that i can barely feel him touch my finger, if at all when i feed him. He is quite the gentle little guy. Well that's all for now. They all do funny little things i thinka nd are all quite different from eachother, then then now when i wave my hand around in the air, all 3 see it and start goin' nuts tryin to get to me cuz they think im gona feed them

Well, since I started feeding frozen food on the flat end of a toothpick, both of my bettas jump after anything that is put in their tank. Including me. When I have to adjust something, and stick my finger in the tank, Pi will bite me repeatedly. It takes him four or five tries before he figures out I'm not going to be eaten...It's a very odd sensation. Their mouths aren't big enough to fit anything substantial in, but they can create suction, and wiggle around trying to pull me.
Pi also likes to chase after the shrimp in his tank. He will swim along a bit, and then see one, pause mid-water for a second and then dive- but stop about 1cm away from the shrimp. It used to scare the hell out of the shrimp, but now they are used to it...
And my second fish, Sorry, is just a whole bundle of weird. His favorite hobby is to move marbles around in his tank after I turn the lights off and am settled in bed (his tank is in my bedroom). I've only been able to catch him once. The first few times I would be drifting off to sleep only to hear that awful glass against glass noise. He won't do it with his tank light on though. If I turn the light on quickly to catch him, he will pause and hover until I turn the light off again.

hahahah, my girlfriends male betta does the marble thing too. i think thats great. I wish mine did that sorta stuff. Oh, no you don't! I'm tired from a long day at work (okay, I answer phones, but I can still get tired!) and I come home, feed my beloved fishies, and go to sleep only to hear the grating sound of glass against glass...it's the closest I've ever come to choking a fish. Of course, I still love him JoAnna (edited to add: of course, I could always move to a sand substrate, I've got plenty extra from other tanks, but he seems to like moving the marbles so much...I think I'm betta whipped)

My tank is as follows: My betta's name is "Byte" and he loves to swim around the "ammonia alert" sign. He'll try to pretend it's a little tunnel and will swim round and round. Another thing mine recently does now is whenever I have food, he follows my finger and when I drop the food, he will try to jump to get the food (so far he misses the food ) He will not eat tetramin food as it sinks too fast. He didn't like the freeze dried brine shrimp I gave to him (spits it right out). Today, there was a very small spider near my face so I got it by the spider thread, and dropped it into the tank. Byte put it in his mouth, spit it out. He then tried it again, spit it out. The spider fell to the bottom of the tank ;D I took the spider out, and assume he didn't like that food I did see a big chunk of p00 on the bottom as well. You never see it when they do it, but come the next day or when you're not looking and there it is -MV, who enjoys these stories

my betta's name is Draco he likes to show off when ever you pass by his tank he sometimes gets stuck in one of his plants (I think he does it for attention) he likes to swim near the filter and get tossed around. and it looks like he blows kisses to me.
I think another funny thing is when we first got him 8 months ago my dad didn't even want him. now my dad plays with him like I do and you can tell he loves draco too.
it's amazing how fast a betta becomes part of the family.

Lately, whenever I show my double tail his reflection, he also has a poop as he flares. I find that interesting. And then sometimes he follows it as if to smell it to see if its food
Icky :\

I just put my two males in a divided 5 gal tank. They've seemed to have started a bubble nest building contest! The nests they've built are huge! They even have different techniques for building - one is building tall and the other is building wide. One nest is about a centimeter high and the other is like 4 inches wide! It's funny to watch them put a few bubbles in thier nest, then flare at each other and show off and then go back to the nest. =^^=

My betta, Storm, seems like he never settles down. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I look in his tank and I see him "dancing around" as usual. It is so funny ;D
